Gloucester Cathedral - New Cathedral Green
New Leaf Studio were appointed by the Dean and Chapter in 2014 to come up with designs to re-configure the surrounds to the Cathedral as part of an ambitious 10-year programme of capital and outreach work known as Project Pilgrim
The Heritage Lottery funded project was granted planning and listed building consent in November 2015 and works are expected to commence late summer 2016.
The design for Cathedral Green involves removal of the current dominance of car parking to provide a multifunctional public space as a fitting setting for the cathedral, with opportunities to accommodate outdoor events. The design has involved working closely with the Cathedral Architect, Archaeologist, local authority officers and both lay staff and clergy at the Cathedral.
